TRACK - Culture continues to resonate

Despite its closure, the Scène nationale Carré-Colonnes remains a land of creation for artists... Behind closed doors, something can be heard. Music, footsteps, laughter, the sound of a train? Despite its closure, the Scène nationale Carré Colonne, which still offers an alternative program - between home shows or outdoor performances - continues to resonate with the rhythm of creation. Regularly, the Carré-Colonnes indeed welcomes artists who take over its stages to rehearse or work in secret on their next creation...

Thus, from January 25 to 29, the company Cie La Boîte à sel settled in Saint-Médard for a creation residency, around its new show, Track. Imagined by the director Céline Garnavault as a "miniature odyssey" and a "railway choreography," this show in full construction will invite spectators, both children and adults, to sit on stage around a large train circuit. In the middle, a character played by the actor and human beatbox Laurent Duprat, will take them on a funny journey where he will be the one-man band who will drive the story but also its rhythm. "The uniqueness of this show is that the sound and all the compositions will come only from Laurent's mouth. There will be no recorded sounds. He will make us travel." reveals Céline Garnavault.

From A to Z, this show should therefore be a true experience for the spectators that will also allow them to discover fabulous connected sound objects, made by the company. Favorable for evoking imaginations, this set, made of train circuits, should be finalized this summer. After Saint-Médard, the company will continue its explorations in residency in Quimper, Paris, or Angoulême before landing in Sète, in November 2021, for the first performance. A tour across France will follow, with a return to Carré-Colonnes planned for spring 2022. It could not be otherwise, the company is a regular at the venue. "Our shows are welcomed here and we are regularly in residency and in lab. With this show, we are now entering into co-production, it's an additional step in our collaboration," continues the director, emphasizing the importance of solidarity between cultural venues and companies during this period.

After a year of canceled performances, La Boîte à sel is delighted to be able to create and amaze once again. "Yes, culture is essential. Especially for childhood. The work of theaters, especially in territories and in schools, is enormous. I am a strong advocate for children's shows. When we work for childhood, we reach everyone, all social layers. Today many children go to the theater from a very young age. It can change a life, a year." And change a year... Who wouldn't dream of that?
