Thomas Sillard trained at the School of Image and Sound in Angoulême. He first worked as a sound operator for television (1996 to 1998 and 2001).
In 1997 and 1998, he went to Burkina Faso to take up the position of General Manager of the Georges Méliès French Cultural Center in Ouagadougou.
Back in France, he dedicated himself to sound creation, and designed soundtracks for theater and dance, notably for Claire Lasne-Darcueil, Richard Sammut, Alexandre Doublet, La Compagnie TOC-Mirabelle Rousseau, Thomas Condemine, Dinaïg Stall, Charlotte Gosselin, and especially with the dance company La Cavale for which he wrote the sound for “Suite,” “Oscillare” and created a scenographic and sound device for “Au dela vue d’ici” - 2021.
In parallel, he trained in digital arts and programming at IRCAM (Institute for Research and Coordination in Acoustics/Music), at ISTS Avignon (Higher Institute of Performing Arts Techniques), and at ENSCI (National School of Industrial Creation).
Passionate about the relationship between sound, image, and interactivity, he undertook research that led him to design the visual universe of performances, then to create a performance, “syn-aisthesis” at the local of the Poitou-Charentes Dramatic Center in April 2009, an excerpt of which was performed in the show “Not everyone can be called Durand” by Claire Lasne-Darcueil at the Théâtre Auditorium de Poitiers (T.A.P) on October 13 and 14, 2010.
In 2012, his documentary film for the Poitou-Charentes Orchestra on a creation by composer Ramon Lazcano was selected for the 2012 Education Film Festival.
That same year, he created at the Maison du Comédien, as part of the European Heritage Days, the three parts of the ICARE in situ installation (Immersive and Interactive Experience): “The Labyrinth,” “The Flight,” “The Fall.”
He teaches as a sound engineer for the documentary creation master's program at the University of Poitiers. (CREADOC).
Since 2017, he has collaborated with visual artist Rouge Hartley and develops sound devices and creations for her installations: “Container” - Agora, Bordeaux Architecture Biennale, September 2017, “The World of Yesterday” - expo “Urban Legends” Base sous-marine, Bordeaux, Summer 2019, “The Anthesteries” - Cité du vin de Bordeaux, Spring 2021.
In 2023 he collaborates with the Circus Company La Bivouac for their project "Fragments".
Since 2015, he has been developing unique scenographies and sound devices with Céline Garnavaut within Cie La Boîte à sel: “The Rockets” 2015, “Revers” 2017, “Block” 2018, “The Great Fall.” 2019, “Track” 2021 and specific long-term research with the projects "BAD BLOCK" (2024), "OUAT (what watt)" and "Anatomy".
From 2022 he becomes Director of Technological and Artistic Creation of La Boîte à sel, alongside Céline Garnavaut, artistic creation director and dedicates himself entirely to research and creation to dream of interactions, reciprocities, new logics and invent new forms in which the spectator is at the center, immersed, the body engaged, the senses solicited, on and in the stage, in the sculpture, in the sound.
