It is by studying cinema that Mathieu Enderlin becomes interested in puppet theater. He discovers a free and resolutely modern form of artistic expression. He sees the puppet as a medium for projecting the imaginary, the starting point of a shared common dream between the actor and the spectator.
In 2003, he undertakes training at the École de l’Acteur Marionnettiste of Théâtre aux Mains Nues directed by Alain Recoing. He becomes a performer in "Vous qui habitez le temps" by Valère Novarina directed by Nicolas Gousseff. He subsequently works with numerous companies, notably under the direction of Jaime Lorca in "Benito Cereno," Dinaïg Stall in "2h14," Pierre Blaise in "Les Insectes," "La Nuit," and more recently in "La Princesse Maleine." In cinema, he participates in the feature film by Hou Hsiao Hsien, "Le voyage du Ballon Rouge."
He regularly acts as an external eye for the Compagnie d’Objet Direct and the company Mnémosyne Théâtre Poursuite. In 2016, he directs his first show, "CUBiX," which combines "rudimentary" manipulation and digital technology to question the mechanisms of perception and illusion. At the beginning of 2017, the Faenza ensemble calls upon him to direct the performers of a creation blending puppetry and baroque music: "Polichinelle et Orphée et aux enfers." His experience with puppetry now leads him to teach at the training school of Théâtre Aux Mains Nues.
