Black Adopo

Black Adopo

Musician / Composer / Human Beatbox

Since 2000, Black Adopo has been practicing the art of human beatbox. It involves reproducing instruments, primarily rhythmic but also melodic, using the mouth.

Throughout his journey, he has blended his practice with numerous artistic disciplines. Notably with dance (Compagnie racines carrées, roots & routes, etc.), music (Jam in the Band, BKTM, Hexpress, Eriphile, etc.) or even theater (Scratch, compagnie les Daltoniens, compagnie l’électron libre, etc.).

He has also been conducting workshops around his practice since 2003 in various environments (MJC, prisons, schools, colleges, high schools, IME, CHRS, hospitals, universities, kindergartens, etc.), particularly during numerous CLEA.

He was previously a computer scientist. He holds a master's degree in IRCOMS (telecommunications and computer networks) and worked for 2 years as a web developer (Chicorée Développement, which later became Unitiz).

As a result, he has always been interested in new technologies. After seeing the work of beatboxers LOS and Ezra and their project bionicologists where they acted on their vocal music via mobile phones, Black Adopo began developing his own new controllers.

Under Ezra's guidance, he developed various projects with phones, tablets, a wiimote, the specktr glove, a leap motion, and even the kinect. Since then, he has been working with the organic orchestra company to conduct beatbox workshops and new controllers. (http://www.organic-orchestra.com) He is also working on developing his own looper Tablet/smartphone/specktr glove within the compagnie l’électron libre.
